In Madagascar, the national utility JIRAMA is implementing a large-scale upgrade program to transition from traditional local prepaid meters to smart prepaid meters compatible with AMI system. Our company has been actively involved in this transformation, providing a reliable technical roadmap and practical solutions to support the transition. We supplied both traditional and smart prepaid meters, including base smart meters and plug-in communication modules, enabling a seamless and scalable migration toward advanced metering infrastructure. In addition to meter supply, we offered on-site technical support, system integration guidance, and training for local engineers to ensure stable field operation and a smooth rollout. This project not only modernized JIRAMA’s metering infrastructure but also laid a solid foundation for the development of a national AMI system, improving billing accuracy, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Bulk Supply of 90,000 Smart Prepaid Meters under Nigeria’s Meter Asset Provider (MAP) Program
To address the critical meter shortage and eliminate estimated billing for end-users, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) initiated the Meter Asset Provider (MAP) scheme. Our company was selected as a key supplier supplying 90,000 units of smart prepaid meters, specifically designed to meet Nigerian specifications, including keypad support, tamper detection, and communication capabilities. We executed a phased delivery plan, ensuring all meters arrived on schedule to support a continuous installation rollout. Our team also provided complete technical documentation, training for local installers, and remote support to ensure a smooth deployment and system integration. All 90,000 meters were successfully delivered and deployed, directly connecting thousands of residential and commercial customers. End-users transitioned from unreliable estimated bills to transparent, pay-as-you-go consumption, greatly improving customer satisfaction. The client can see an immediate improvement in revenue collection and a significant reduction in commercial (non-technical) losses.
